OUR COMMITMENT TO ACCESSIBILITY: SYMCOR’S ACCESSIBILITY PLAN

Communication and feedback are the foundation on which Symcor’s Accessibility Plan was developed and ongoing input is key to upholding our commitment to accessibility and creating a barrier-free environment at Symcor.
Below is the process to request Symcor’s Accessibility Plan(s), Progress Report(s) and Feedback Process in an alternate format or to your share thoughts and suggestions on accessibility at Symcor.
Feedback Process and Alternate Format Requests
In accordance with the Accessible Canada Act (ACA), this Feedback Process was established to allow Symcor to receive and respond to individuals’ comments and ideas regarding:
- Symcor’s implementation of the Accessibility Plan;
- Barriers encountered by Symcor’s employees, clients and other partners who work with Symcor; and
- Any other matters regarding accessibility.
How to Provide Feedback:
Symcor’s Director of Employee Experience has been designated to receive accessibility feedback on behalf of the organization and may be contacted by any of the following means:

Pursuant to the Accessible Canada Regulations, feedback on accessibility provided to Symcor will be documented in a database managed by the Director of Employee Experience and/or delegate and used to identify, remove and prevent barriers to accessibility across the organization.
All feedback (including any personal information provided) and responses to feedback will be kept for a period of seven (7) years from the day it is received/sent.
Privacy:
The information you share with Symcor will be used for the purposes of identifying, removing and preventing accessibility barriers, and to enable Symcor to acknowledge and communicate with you about the feedback or alternate format requests in accordance with Symcor’s obligations under the ACA.
Feedback can be provided anonymously or with your contact information. Symcor will send an acknowledgment of receipt to feedback that is received unless the feedback is provided anonymously. Anonymous feedback will be treated equally to feedback submitted by an identified person.
To help protect your privacy, Symcor does not require detailed or unnecessary personal information. Personal information provided along with feedback is protected by applicable Canadian privacy legislation such as PIPEDA.

How to Request Alternate Formats:
To request a copy of Symcor’s Accessibility Plan or the Feedback Process in an alternate format, contact the Director of Employee Experience through email, mail or telephone, as identified above. Alternate formats include:
- Large print
- Braille
- Audio format (French or English)
- Electronic formats compatible with adaptive technology
Requests for documentation in Braille or audio format will be fulfilled within 45 business days of receipt of the request. All other requests for alternate formats will be fulfilled within 15 business days.
Accessibility Standards for Symcor.ca
Web standard
Symcor.ca is in conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) at Level AA. All pages use valid, structured, semantic HTML5. Visual styling is provided by Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and enhanced user interaction is provided by JavaScript.
Symcor.ca strives to be fully accessible for users without CSS or JavaScript. Where images are used to show relevant textual content, a text-based alternative is provided.
Keyboard navigation
Symcor.ca supports standard tab-based keyboard navigation.
Font sizes
Newer browsers support page zooming to allow users to increase the size of essential page content.
Text & background colours
As Symcor.ca is in conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) at Level AA, the required contrast ratio between text and background has been adhered to.
Accommodation
Symcor is committed to providing supported accommodation to employees in a manner that respects their dignity and provides the opportunity for every employee to reach their full potential.
